Introducing New Derived Fields Capability

By Jason Skowronski 07 Aug 2015

At Loggly, we listen closely to what our users have to say. One of our most requested features for derived fields is the ability to create new custom parsed fields from other parsed fields, or data that was already automatically parsed.

We’re excited to share that you can now extract data from your JSON fields, Apache URLs, and more! Just select the target field from a drop-down menu on the derived-field page (illustrated below). It’s as easy as that.

Getting Started

If you haven’t set up derived fields yet and you’re currently in a free trial or have a Pro account, click the Create Derived Fields button to get started. If you’re on a Lite or Standard plan, it’s easy to upgrade to Pro to take advantage of derived fields. Our Pro plans start at $99 per month (with an annual commitment).

Not yet a Loggly user? Sign up for a 14-day free trial to see what it’s like to inject intelligence into your logs. Our free trial includes full access to the Loggly Pro plan features, like derived fields.

We hope you explore our newest features soon and let us know what you think!
